Rats in the shadows, secretly taxing your belongings and defecating in piles in the hidden spots, bringing you disease and hoping you won’t name their existence.
Greasy leeches in the mud sneak to your skin to drain your lifeblood.
Weeds creep up to choke the seedling.
They’re disgusting when they show their face.
Your enemy slides around, taking from you, secretly.
Wants you distressed and distracted, going through the motions unaware and miserable.
It keeps you weak and toiling.
It’s cowardly, not open like a boxing ring.
It’s trickery, and lies, like a whispering wormtongue sickening the king with ill counsel.
To root it out takes discipline, and work, and vigilance but most of all, takes light.
We must see before we can excise.
We must know the genuine to cut the counterfeit.
And courage, because brother you’ve believed a lot of lies.
